Therapist in St. Louis · Online Therapist in Missouri
You don't need someone who just nods along. You need someone who actually gets what you're trying to say, even when you don't have the words for it yet.
That's where I come in.
Hi, I'm Lorna MSW, LCSW in Missouri.
I'm a therapist, a parent of two daughters, and someone who understands that life can be both meaningful and challenging at the same time.
I've experienced my own share of difficult moments and transitions. That perspective, along with my training, allows me to meet you where you are.
Therapy with me feels like a real conversation.
I'm not a passive therapist. I'm paying close attention. I'll reflect what I'm hearing, ask questions, and sometimes pause you if things start to spiral. Not to interrupt, but to help you stay present.
You'll always know what we're doing and how it connects to what you're experiencing.
I also bring in practical understanding along the way. If something is happening in your brain or body, I'll help you understand it so it doesn't feel so confusing or out of control.
A space where you feel seen and heard
Growing up, I didn't always feel seen or heard. That experience shaped the kind of therapist I've become. I want the people I work with to feel understood. Not just listened to, but actually understood.
That kind of space allows for real change.
How therapy with me works
Clients often come in feeling scattered. There's a lot going on — thoughts, emotions, past experiences, current stress. It can feel like too much to sort through.
You might even say, "I know I'm all over the place."
What I tend to do naturally is listen for what's underneath all of that. I take what feels tangled and reflect it back in a way that's clear and grounded.
"That's exactly it."
That moment matters. Because once something makes sense, you can actually work with it.
I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. I'm trained in multiple methods and draw from them based on what you need in the moment. Therapy shifts depending on what's coming up for you in session.
Some sessions focus more on thoughts and patterns. Some focus more on emotions. Some focus on what's happening in your body in real time. It's fluid and responsive — it follows what's actually happening for you, not a set script.
Therapy Approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
To help you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns that keep you stuck or overwhelmed.
Mindfulness-Based Work
To help you slow things down and stay present instead of getting pulled into spirals or overwhelm.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for when past experiences are still showing up in the present in a reactive or intense way.
Integrative, Relational
Looking at how your experiences, relationships, and patterns all connect and what that means for how you move through the world.
Somatic Therapy
To help you understand what your body is holding and how it responds to stress, anxiety, or emotional overload.
Present-Moment Attunement
I pay close attention to how you're talking, what shifts in your energy, where things get stuck or speed up. That's often just as important as the content itself.
Who I work with
Adults who are ready to move beyond just "feeling their feelings."
You might be someone who:
Notices yourself getting stuck in the same patterns in relationships or at work
Deals with anxiety, depression, or the lingering impact of past experiences
Finds it hard to say what you need or set boundaries without overthinking it
Wants to feel more confident in your voice and the decisions you're making
Is trying to actually understand yourself, not just talk about what's going on
Values a direct, grounded, and compassionate approach in therapy
Has tried therapy before but felt like it stayed on the surface or didn't really shift anything
"I understand it logically, but I still feel stuck in it."
A lot of people I work with come in saying some version of this. That's usually where we start.
We slow things down enough to figure out what's actually happening underneath the pattern. Not just what you're feeling, but why it keeps showing up the way it does.

You don't have to come in with everything figured out.
You don't need the perfect explanation.
If you're willing to look at what's going on and try something different, we can work with that.
