Therapy for When You Feel Overwhelmed, Stuck, or Not Quite Like Yourself
In-Person Therapy in St. Louis and Online Therapy Across Missouri
You might not even have a clear reason for being here.
Maybe something happened. Or maybe nothing specific happened, and things just... don't feel right. You feel off. You overthink. You react in ways you don't fully understand.
You might catch yourself thinking:
"Why am I like this?" "I thought I'd have this figured out by now."
If you're looking for individual therapy in St. Louis, this is often where people start. And that's okay.
There's usually more underneath
Most people come in focused on what's happening right now.
Stress. A relationship that feels hard. A general sense of being stuck. But as we start talking, we often find there's more underneath that.
Old experiences. Family patterns. Messages you picked up about yourself somewhere along the way. Not always obvious ones. Sometimes it's subtle.
Those things shape how you see yourself, how you interpret situations, how you respond without even realizing it. It can feel like you're viewing your life through a lens you didn't choose.
In our work together, we start to notice that lens. And gently, we begin to clear it.
Therapy that adapts to you
Helping you regulate in real time
A lot of change actually happens in the moment. If I notice you starting to spiral, I might pause you, not to interrupt, but to help you stay present. We slow things down, figure out what's happening, and find a way to ground you before it takes over. Over time, you learn how to do that on your own.
Present-moment attunement
Energy & Attunement
A big part of how I work is paying attention to what's happening beneath the surface — what you say, what you don't say, what doesn't quite match. You might not have words for it yet, but it shows up. I help you tune into that and understand yourself more clearly so you can respond with intention instead of reaction.
Trauma-informed work
EMDR
When something from the past is still affecting you now, we may use EMDR. It helps your brain process experiences that feel frozen. You don't have to relive everything. We work at a pace that feels manageable, and over time, what once felt intense starts to feel more distant.
I don't use one fixed approach.
I'm trained in several methods and pull from them based on what you need at the moment. Some sessions focus more on your thinking. Others on emotions. Others on what's happening in your body. It follows you.
Cognitive work
CBT
Sometimes we look at the patterns in how you think — the assumptions you make, the way you interpret situations, the thoughts that keep you stuck. We look at whether they're actually helping you, and what might feel more true.
Body awareness
Somatic Work
Your body often picks up on things before your mind does. Tightness. Restlessness. A sense that something isn't right. We pay attention to those signals. You learn how to notice what's happening and use that awareness to stay more grounded.
How Therapy Helps You Change
Some clients describe it as feeling like a different version of their life. Same circumstances, different ground beneath them.
At first
You catch yourself before reacting. You understand why something bothered you. You feel a little steadier in situations that used to knock you over.
Then it builds
You communicate more clearly. You trust yourself more. You feel more like yourself again.
