What Starts to Change
When things make more sense, your reactions start to make more sense too.
You catch yourself earlier
You pause instead of reacting immediately
You understand why something affected you the way it did
You start to feel more steady in situations that used to throw you off
You can communicate more effectively
Over time, people often notice:
They're not overthinking everything the same way
They feel more confident in how they communicate
They don't feel as pulled into the same patterns
Little by little, you'll feel like yourself again. Clearer. More grounded. More in control of how you respond.
Therapy is a place to slow things down and actually understand what's going on.
When you sit down with me, you don't need to have it all figured out. In fact, most people don't.
You might feel like you're talking in circles. Jumping from one thing to another. Trying to explain something that doesn't fully make sense yet.
That's okay. I listen for what's underneath that. I take what feels scattered and reflect it back in a way that's clear and grounded.
"Okay… yes, that's what's been going on."
Once you can see yourself and your life circumstances clearly, it's so much easier to understand your reactions, your patterns, and your choices. And from there, we can actually work with it.
Meet Lorna
Hi, I’m Lorna, MSW, LCSW in Missouri. As a therapist, I’m someone who pays close attention. To what you’re saying and what you’re not saying.
I tend to pick up on patterns quickly. The emotion behind the words. The pieces that don’t quite line up yet. Clients sometimes joke that it feels like I’m reading their mind. But rather, I’m listening closely and helping you connect what’s already there.
Sessions with me feel like a conversation.
I’m engaged, and I ask questions. I reflect things back, and I may pause you if something important is happening at the moment.
I draw from different approaches depending on what you need. Sometimes we focus on thought patterns. Sometimes we work through something from the past. Sometimes we focus on what’s happening in your body right now. I show you ways to help stop the overthinking, slow the reactions and more effectively articulate your thoughts.
My goal is to help you get clear and stay grounded enough to actually do something with that and find a path to what you have been wanting in your life.
How I can help
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
In person or Online | St. Louis + MO
You might come in with a specific issue. Like anxiety, a relationship situation, or just feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
But as we start to talk, you might discover that there’s more underneath it.
Patterns from earlier experiences
Ways you’ve learned to cope
Reactions that feel automatic
Sometimes those patterns come from environments where you had to adjust, adapt, or make sense of things on your own. Over time, that can shape how you see yourself and how you move through the world.
In therapy, we start to notice those patterns without judgment.
We slow things down enough to understand them. And from there, begin to shift them.
I offer individual therapy in St. Louis and virtual therapy across Missouri for people who want to better understand themselves and feel more steady in their day-to-day life.
COUPLES THERAPY
In person or Online | St. Louis + MO
Most couples come in feeling completely stuck in the same conversations.
You’re talking, but it’s not landing. You’re listening, but not really hearing each other. Things escalate quickly. Or shut down completely.
I don’t sit back and let that pattern keep repeating. I step in and guide the conversation. I slow things down. I help you both understand what’s actually being said and what’s underneath it.
A lot of the time, you’re reacting to something deeper than the words being used.
When that starts to make sense, the dynamic between you can begin to change.
Less tension when you’re together
More ease in everyday interactions
Moments where things feel normal again
Even moments where you catch yourselves laughing.
I offer couples therapy in St. Louis for partners who want things to feel different, even if you’re not sure how to get there yet.
